The Hunter (Chapter 1)PreyA cloaked girl ran through the rain of fire. A dragon was pursuing her; and it seemed like the winged reptile was resolute on making the girl its dinner. Though armed with throwing knives, the girl could not aim properly, for the dragon threw countless fireballs down at her. It roared, as if mocking the her pathetic efforts. Finally, left with nowhere to go, the girl jumped into a pit that seemed deep. She heard the dragon snarl with annoyance, then fly away noisily. The girl unsheathed twin daggers when she heard growling through the tunnel she was in, then slashing and warcries. She was not alone. The girl removed her cloak and cautiously walked towards the noises."Alas," She heard a man say. "I shall skin you when I'm done venting my anger."After those words, there was no more growling; only slashing. Then, she heard something being peeled off. She covered her mouth in shock. "Hello...sir?" She yelled, replied by echoes of the same words.
Serate was now alert. He was done skinning the Drekan, slumping its enormous, heavy green scaled skin over his shoulder. He sheathed a scimitar and unsheathed the other. Quietly, he made his way to where he heard a girl shout. Indeed, there was a girl outside the cavern.
He pointed the scimitar at her.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my territory?" The drow asked in a voice so low that it's almost indecipherable.
The girl, obviously startled, turned to face the drow, her brown ponytail swiping the air.
"Umm...My name? I am...... Mary De Trongor...Daughter of Grendtol De Trongol of Dervog. I am here...to hide." She stammered, but told the 'man' all that she knew.
"Hiding place?" Serate shot. "Hah. You want to hide here, in the legenday Rengor Tunnels, home for Nendrig Drow exiles?"
He glared at the girl with unjoking, dead serious eyes.
"Mary De Trongor. Look at me in the eye." Serate ordered, smiling vaguely when she did as she was told. "You think that the Rengor Tunnels is like other tunnels; a walk on solid, rocky path, with signs and a guide? Well if you do, you'll be in your grave soon enough."
Mary glared now with anger.
"You think I'm incompetent? Why, I can kill a dragon with my eyes closed!" She boasted, but right after that, her lips shut tight.
"Oh, really? I heard fire outside. Seems like you are escaping from a dragon rather than fighting it." The drow argued, keeping his cool the whole time.
Just as Mary opened her mouth to respond, a roar rang through the tunnels. Long after the real roar was made, the walls still mimicked it with echoes. Soon, there was thumping. Footsteps. The next sight left Mary De Trongor stunned and shocked; for the creature standing at the entrance of the cavern was the legendary Drekan.
Serate unsheathed the scimitar and walked behind of Mary, dropping the Drekan skin from his shoulder.
"Mary De Tronger; if you can defeat a dragon with your eyes closed, surely a Drekan is of no threat." He said, voice layered with sarcasm.
"O...Of c-c-ourse!" The girl replied with undeniable tremor. With shivering hands, Mary threw a throwing knife at the reptile. The knife got stuck in the reptile's leg, and it roared with pain. Glaring at Mary with piercing, amber eyes, it charged, headfirst.
Serate turned around, watching Mary wrestle with the reptile, trying to stab a dagger into the Drekan while screaming in terror as she parried and dodged blows made by her foe. She was, so far, unsuccessful.
"Need my help?" Serate asked loudly, silently unsheathing his scimitars.
Mary ignored the 'man', as she was trying to get onto the Drekan's head, while trying to avoid the beast's powerful blows. After a while of struggling, she was finally injured by the Drekan's claw. Mary gave up.
"Yes!" She yelled while clutching at her wound and desperately crawling away from the monster, watching the 'man'...it was only after examining this stranger's ears that she knew what he actually was....a drow!
"You're...you're...a...drow?" She stammered whiled the drow rushed into battle. Serate did not hear her, however. His scmitars dug into the monster. He jumped everywhere, slashing away at the Drekan all the while. The monster parried some blows with its claws, but not all. Serate finally halted his jumping frenzy when he settled onto the ground, swinging his weapons in circular motions to make his opponent dizzy. He stopped swinging after a few minutes. The Drekan saw the drow raise a scimitar, then, because it was disoriented by the swinging, could not react when a scimitar plunged into its skull. Staring at the hunter with blank, lifeless eyes, it fell, dead before it could feel the blow.
Serate closed his eyes, then turned to face the girl before opening them.
"Incompetent fool...get out of here while you can. That was just a friendly example of what you can find here." He said, walking away, back to his friend; or perhaps enemy, solitude.
Mary stared at the drow for a long time before sitting down, leaning on the wall. She shut her eyes, trying to get some sleep.
Was the drow right?
Was she incompetent in her fighting?
Impossible, she thought. She was the top student in her fighting school, even surpassing her master.
Eventually, her thoughts led her to her sleep. However, she could not help but feel that she was being watched.Indeed she was; by the hunter, behind a pillar of rock.
"I'm taking a liking to her," He whispered, then disappeared into the darkness, where he belonged. ~To be continued This story is brought to you by .::Epee::.DepartureThe poetPssst..... I'M OFFICIALLY HOOKED ON LE PACTE DES LOUPS!!!

We are a 40-or-nothing, AM6, of the year 2006. Let's see. Sum it all in one equation? AM6 = love. We're of different personalities and everything and that's why we gel. Together, as one :) Man, it's not supposed to sound wrong. AM6's err mostly high, followed by a bunch of cool people, also reigning the majority.
EVERYONE is pwnage to us. No shit. Anyway, we've been together for close to 4 years already and can't bear to leave. :( Though we're not gonna ever, ever be the same unique bunch of lovely, nice, kind, polite, brilliant, marvelous, terrific, pure and merry classmates anymore, these 4 years of wonderful memories will definitely be in our hearts, etched deeply within us. Aww, *sniff.
AM6-ity is in all of us. Like peanut in peanut butter. Like phosphate groups in a sugar-phosphate backbone. Like Santa in Santa Claus. Like the i in iPod. Like the sun and the seas and the moon and the stars. Like seeds on a strawberry. Like spastic and random. Like the B in Brilliant and the T in Terrific. A circle of friends, friends for a reason, season, lifetime. Can't you feel the tears brimming in your eyes now :(
